Foreign Language Fair 2010--Spain!
by Donna Albrecht
The Hall Spanish and French classes held their 6th Annual Foreign Language Fair--Spain, on Thursday, March 4. The Spanish students reproduced famous Spanish paintings by Picasso, Velazquez, and Dali. Also on display were the Giralda bell tower that is part of the cathedral where Columbus is buried, a Roman aqueduct, El Alcazar castle where Isabel was crowned queen of Spain, and El Escorial (a mausoleum, cathedral, monastery, library, and palace all in one). For the younger visitors there was a soccer game, boat races, and face painting. On stage Spanish 1 sang "Uno de enero," Spanish 2 performed "Gatatumba," and Spanish 3 sang "Clavelitos," all of which are famous songs from Spain. The Spanish 4 students presented a skit about El Cid, the national hero of Spain since 1094.
The Spanish classes would like to thank everyone who attended and are already looking forward to next year's fair!
