Board of Education Meeting Summary
April 23, 2009
Began Meeting: 7:00 p.m. Ended meeting- 10:20 pm
Members Present: John Andes, Jack Boroski, Holly Flanagan, Sue
Nolasco, Dale Pienta, Todd Fanning and Betsy Sobin.
New Members Sworn in- John Piccatto, Jr. and Marty Herrmann.
Members Retiring from the Board- John
Andes and Dale Pienta.
Members Absent: None
The board honored the following groups for their contributions to Hall High School-
Ladd Lanes, represented by Nicole
Larson
Spring Valley Little League- Mike DeAngelo
Reports-
1) Academic Indicators- (action)
Academic Indicators were adopted by the
Board.
2) Update on Building Projects (informational)
a) Health,
Life Safety Rooting Projects.
b) Electrical
Distribution Upgrade Project
3) Random Drug Testing Program for 2009-2010.
The board directed the superintendent to
test up to
9 students weekly. The current practice is
5 students
weekly.
Other Business- The Board honored out-going board members John
Andes and Dale Pienta.
The board swore in newly elected board members John Piccatto Jr., Marty Herrmann and Betsy Sobin.
Action Items- None.
The old board adjourned sine die.
The new board reorganized starting at
7:30 pm
The following action was taken-
Board officers were appointed as follows:
Todd Fanning, President.
Sue Nolasco, Vice President
Debbie Evelhoch, Secretary
Geri Miller, Treasurer
Sue Nolasco, IASB Delegate
The Board adopted the meeting schedule for 2009-2010 and decided
not to form standing board committees for 2009-2010.

3) English Curriculum Proposal (action)
The board adopted a non-ability grouping
approach
to Grade 9 and 10 English for the 2009-2010
school
year.
4) Proposed Handbook Changes (First Reading)
5) Special Education Classload Policy. (First Reading)
6) Hall High School Staff Union Request to Bargain.
The following board members were appointed
to
negotiate the contract with the Staff
Union:
Jack Boroski, Marty Herrmann and John
Piccatto, Jr.
7) Health Care Premiums for Spouses of Retired Teachers The board
voted to eliminate the 20% user fee
on premiums paid by the spouses of retired teachers.
Action after Closed Session-
The board hired Nick Hanck as head
girls track coach for the 2009-2010 school year.
The board withdrew the employment
offer to Carolyn Neuhalfen for the
2009-2010 school year.
The board hired Ray Ferrari and Tony
Cerveny to share the assistant football coaching position with the
stipend to be shared equally.
The Board adjourned at 10:20 pm.
