SPRING VALLEY LEO CLUB
CLEAN/SAFE WATER PROJECT
The Spring Valley Leo Club composed of students from
Hall High School organized a water purification project with their
sister club(the Chautari Leo Club) in Pokhara, Nepal. Money was
raised by both clubs to purchase a reverse osmosis water
purification system for the Shree Janakalyan Secondary School in
Nepal. The project is entitled the Clean Water Project and is run
with the cooperation of Lions Clubs from around the world.
Earlier this month, the Shree Jenakalyan School held an all school
assembly outdoors. Members of the Chautari Leo Club presented the
water purification system to school officials. The students held up
signs thanking the Spring Valley Leo Club for including their
school in the project. A letter of appreciation from the school was
also sent to the club through the sponsor, Barbara Fulara.
The Spring Valley Leo Club is under the supervision of the Spring
Valley Lions Club. Globally, there are over 5,000 Leo clubs in
seventy different countries. LEO stands for Leadership Equality
Opportunity. The main purpose of all Leo clubs is to serve their
local communities and participate in making the world a better
place in which to live.
This year, besides the clean water project, the Spring Valley Leo
Club has collected over 165 coats for the local shelter, made and
delivered Christmas cards to each resident in the Spring Valley
Nursing Home, volunteered at the local children’s library, and are
currently fundraising for the Spring Valley High Rise Activity
Fund.
