HHS Inducts New NHS Members

The National Honor Society is a very prestigious club. National Honor
Society members must be outstanding in service, leadership, character, as
well as scholarship. A candidate must have a cumulative grade point average
of 4.0 or higher. Potential candidates fill out activity sheets, and then a
select group of teachers (selected on a rotating basis) score the applicants
based on service, leadership, and character.

 

Current NHS members Brittany Little, Ashley Whatcott, Audra Loveland,
Desiree Dhesse, Emily Kraemer, Brittany Pettit, and Corey Spencer spoke at
the ceremony as did Principal Patti Lunn and NHS sponsor Mrs. Barbara
Fulara. NHS members Amanda Croisant, Katie Crowther, Jacob Eilers, Brittany
Forney, Blake Frund, Adam Helm, Daniel Joyce, Tia Messino, Michael Miroux,
Amanda Pennell, Matt Pioli, Louie Rizzo, and Alyssa Turpen were greeters.
Heralds for the ceremony were Ryan Nett and Angie Lequia. Teachers who were
inducted into the National Honor Society when they were in high school were
honored. Those teachers recognized were Mrs. Donna Albrecht, Mrs. Julie
Anderson, Ms. Deb Arreguin, Ms. Janell Blanco, Mrs. Jill Bruner, Mrs. Julie
Colby, Mrs. Darcy Earley, Mrs. Barbara Fulara, Ms. Sarah Giffin, Mr. Nick
Hanck, Mrs. Jeanie Kozak, Mr. Rob Malerk, Mr. Robert Manahan, Mrs. Kathy
Martin, Mrs. Carolyn Neuhalfen, and Mr. Robert Peterlin.

Twenty students were inducted this year. New senior members include: Dan
Denis, son of Rich and Mary Jane Denis of Spring Valley; Nick LaVanway, son
of Rick and Connie LaVanway of Spring Valley; Katie Stevens, daughter of
Connie Thompson of Spring Valley and Thom Stevens of Tonica; and Jaime
Walter, son of Jim and Stacy Walter of Seatonville.


Junior inductees were: Toni Colmone, daughter of Doug and Teresa Colmone
of Spring Valley; Katie Gerrard, daughter of John and Donna Gerrard of
Dalzell; Chris Hahne, son of Beth and Mike Hahne of Spring Valley; Chad
Hamrick, son of Paul and Trina Hamrick of Spring Valley; Kayleen Haslam,
daughter of Pam and Shawn Haslam of Seatonville; Meaghan Hendricks, daughter
of Stuart and Kelly Hendricks of Cherry; Brandon Kingry, son of Candi and
Marc Kingry of Ladd; Nicole Kruse, daughter of Mike and Kelly Kruse of
Spring Valley; Benjamin Miklavcic, son of Mark and Mary Beth Miklavcic of
Spring Valley; Kyle Miroux, son of Mike and Kathy Miroux of Spring Valley;
Brian Nolasco, son of Ray and Sue Nolasco of Spring Valley; Richard Parsons,
son of Kevin and Jerilynn Visocky of Spring Valley; Erin Polte, daughter of
DuWayne and Laurie Polte of Spring Valley; Kathryn Shipp, daughter of Alora
Zigler and Robert Shipp of Ladd; Lindsay Wallaert, daughter of Mike and Lori
Wallaert of Arlington; and Ryan Zermeno, son of John and Bonnie Zermeno of
Hollowayville.

All National Honor Society members and parents were honored at a reception
held immediately after the ceremony in the gym lobby.
