Ryan Nett -- "Voice of Democracy" Winner

Senior student, Ryan Nett, the son of Steve and Becky Nett from Spring Valley, is the recipient of the "Voice of Democracy" Award. The "Voice of Democracy" is a national patriotic speech writing competition open to 9-12th grade students. To enter the competition, a student records a short, 3-5 minute speech expressing their interpretation of the patriotic theme. This year the "Voice of Democracy" theme was "My Role in Honoring America's Veterans".
Ryan will receive a $100 scholarship from the VFW, Peru, Post 8232. Mrs. Kristine Peshel is the Adjutant/Secretary of the VFW Peru, Post 8232 and its Ladies Auxiliary and chairperson of this event.
Ryan is eligible to compete to win the grand prize of a $30,000 Scholarship and other prizes. Ryan is an Honors IV English student in Ms. Sarah Giffin's class. Congratulations to Ryan on a job well done!
