Board of Education Meeting Summary
November 14, 2007

Members Present: John Andes, Jack Boroski, Todd Fanning, Holly
Flanagan, Sue Nolasco,
Dale Pienta, and Betsy Resetich.
Informational Items-
Superintendent Struna presented three tax levy scenarios for the
board to review. The final tax levy must be adopted by the board at
the December 19, 2007 meeting. All three levy scenarios, which
reflected estimated EAV increases of 3%, 3.5% and 4%, kept the Hall
High School tax rate at $2.88.
Superintendent Struna presented a proposed revision to Board Policy 2:140 which includes new language to govern board member communications via email. The Board Policy Committee will review the proposed revisions and report back to the full board in December.
Superintendent Struna submitted a proposed timeline for the purpose of implementing a drug testing program for extracurricular participants. The administration will submit a proposed policy to the Board Policy Committee as well as the Board Athletic Committee as a first step.
Princpal Patti Lunn presented the tentative school improvement plan. The final plan will be presented to the Board for their approval at the December 19, 2007 meeting.
The Board Committees on Finance, Curriculum, Athletics and Transportation made reports to the Board of Education.
Action Items-
The Board approved the implementation of a chess club at Hall High School with Jeremy Wertz as the club sponsor.
Directed the administration to report to the Board at the regular December Board Meeting regarding the implementation of a drug testing program for extracurricular participants.
Appointed Dave Cain as volunteer girls basketball coach.
Appointed Brett Olson as volunteer boys basketball coach.
Voted 7 to 0 to expel student 2007-2008-A for two calendar years starting November 15, 2007.
