THE PURPOSE OF THE LEO'S CLUB

The Spring Valley LEO club is the high school version of Lions Clubs International. Our club is under the jurisdiction of the Spring Valley Lions Club. We are the youth section of Lions Clubs International. The sole purpose of the LEO club is to do volunteer work for our school and our community. Membership is open to any Hall High School student. Our dues is $5.00 for the year. We meet every other Monday after school in the library. Recent projects that the LEO'S have undertaken include:
--Ushering for school programs.
--Provide homecoming treats for the faculty at Hall High
School.
--Helping with the science club suppers for Relay for Life.
--Managing the Spring Valley Halloween parade.
--Relay for Life teams. In the past three years we have raised
$3,600.00.
--Helping with the move-in for the new veteran’s wing of the Spring
Valley Library.
--Helping with the summer reading program of the Spring Valley
Library.
--Working at the Upscale Resale Shop that benefits the local
battered women’s shelter.
--Raised $1,800.00 for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
--Raised $1,065.00 for the visually impaired.
--Volunteered for Illinois Valley Animal Rescue projects.
--Volunteered for the ZYDECO concert to benefit the city of Spring
Valley.
--Made Valentine cards and May baskets for the residents of the
Spring Valley Nursing Center
--Hosted a Christmas party for the residents of the Spring Valley
Nursing Center.
--Held a school-wide collection of paperback books that were
donated to the Bureau County
Jail.
--Participated in the International Lions Club convention and
parade in Chicago in 2007.
--Participated in the first Illinois Leo Conference in 2008.
--We have a twin club that we correspond with in Nepal (Chautari
Leo Club).
RECOGNITIONS
--Number one youth fundraising team for Relay for Life of Bureau
County—2007
--Received the Leo in Excellence Award from Lions Clubs
International--2007
--Received the Leo Club of the Year Award from the District 1K
Lions--2006
--President Tia Messino received the Illinois Leo of the Year
Award—2008
